Old Mutual ceremony, 2013

BASA partnered with Old Mutual to build our two schools in Protea Glen, Soweto; BASA Protea Glen Combined School and Basa Protea Glen Primary School. This partnership made it possible for the construction of brand new, state of the art facilities for the children of Protea Glen. Basa Combined has a capacity of 1,600 learners in 40 classrooms, 3 computer labs, science and biology labs. This school has 2 soccer fields as well as athletics tracks and other sports facilities available on site for the benefit of all learners. The hall has the capacity of 500 people to host all major Art and Cultural activities presented by the school. The school opened its doors on the 1st of January 2015.

Old Mutual and BASA continued to revamp BASA Protea Glen Primary school which opened its doors in January 2017, another state of the art school for the community of Protea Glen.

This partnership will hopefully encourage other similar projects creating opportunities for all the people of Protea Glen to establish a premium education going forward into the future.

The Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), its asset manager the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), and Old Mutual Investment Group SA (OMIGSA), signed an agreement in 2013 to finance BASA Educational Institute Trust schools. The agreement has seen the renovation and expansion of the aforementioned schooling facilities and the BASA brand as a whole.
